Kosovo music video
A friend of mine emailed this to me, I thought it was quite funny. The video was done by members of the Norwegian army (thanks Marlon, you can tell by the viking longship on their shoulder patches). Don't have a followup story for this yet. Update: This was originally done by the Bob Rivers Show www.bobrivers.com (check out his site, he has more information) and covered by some Norwegian soldiers in 1999, New York Times Nicholas Wood wrote an article on the 21st of August 2005 http://www.nytimes.com/2005/08/21/international/europe/21kosovo.html Guess there is some sort of uproar going on, this was just an email forward to me which I thought was fairly funny but I'll likely pull it off my site soon since I had nothing to do with the making or writing it, just my moment of laughter with the world and the talent of these soldiers. Drop me a line if this offends you and I'll yank it. Download while you can. Update number 2: At least I'm not the first one to post it on the internet, I'm not even in the top 40 google searchs for Kosovo Music Video!

way cool and some nice lookin soldiers from Morway! Don't even yank this vid

Posted by tee (terepin60@msn.com ) on 2005-08-23 04:43:44 PDT

I think its pretty funny, just like the one the brits did in Iraq a while back. It's a bunch of soldiers stuck in harms way having some fun and getting rid of the heebie jeebies and I don't see anything wrong with that. To hell with political correctness....this is very much akin to the "black humour" that most cops know and embrace that keeps them from a hearty bite of Smith & Wesson. The damned song is a shot at US policy anyhow...geeze. (BTW here is the Royal Dragoon Guards performing a music video of "(Is This the Way to) Amarillo". Filmed at their Al Faw base in Iraq, the video is a spoof of Tony Christie's song, for those who missed it. Think it was the inspiration? I see it. http://www.compfused.com/directlink/776/ http://www.cba-clan.com/ < < Better quality clip but ends before credits. ) Again...soldires in harm's way having some fun...annecdotally the Royal Dragoons one supposedly showed every person at the Al Faw base that day.

There was just and article in the Seattle Times about this video (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2002447390_kosovosong21.html) , the song writer Seattle DJ Bob Rivers (http://www.bobrivers.com/ontheshow/brsnews.asp?dismode=article&artid=3395&cat=2) and the Serb’s lack of appreciation of satirical humor. The American sense of humor is not always understood in other countries. The main problem is the time differences from when the song was written, the video produced and the Serbian media becoming outraged. What can I say? I loved the catchy tune and the talent of Norway’s soldiers. I think is very lame that some many involved are pressured into feeling the need to apologize for this poke at “World Peacekeeping”, get a grip and loosen up. Have another Margarita. ;-)
